Cause Thy face to shine upon us!

Psalm 80:3,8,19

Note the progression:

O God, cause Thy face to shine upon us and we will be saved
O God of hosts, cause Thy face to shine upon us and we will be saved
O Lord God of Hosts, cause Thy face to shine upon us and we will be saved

How often do You have to rescue me? In some ways, every day, for You are All Sufficient and I am insufficient.

Lord, You know just how much trouble, misery, despair, fear, and even terror it takes to cause each of us to call upon You, don't You?

I was thinking of it in the context of the book "66 Days Adrift" - how it was an incessant stream of troubles, storms, sharks, and terrors that caused them to call upon You. If it had been less, would they have turned to you? If the duration had been any less, would they have turned to you only for the terrorizing moment?

How much does it take for a person to turn to you for life? I think probably just enough that they see Your goodness and recognize it as such, for it's not troubles that lead us to, but "the goodness of the Lord leads a man to repentance."

I sure don't welcome trouble. We've all had our share. We all need a miracle. Thank You, Lord for the troubles that have driven me to You, and from which You have rescued me.
